The video was taken in Taichung, Taiwan, where a city embraces the subcultural arts and local graffiti artists at the public spaces. This video is a practice for me to paint with a rough sketch, an experiment of following the flow with surroundings. Along with my MA final project, which is engaging in letting go of control and liberating myself from seemingly unbreakable frame, painting in an unknown became a process of learning to live in moment and believe in myself.
Fattone drumroom
Taipei. March 2021
I spent my second year of my master study at my hometown Taipei. It is a great opportunity for me to get to know my culture and the city’s underground scenes. The drum room where I usually went to is a place where subculture meets and gathers. It looks a bit run down, but it carries with strong emotions and rawness. I wanted to know more of their musical journeys, observing how they wear, and how they take up the spaces. I brought my garments with me and documented them with the spaces and musicians, and to feel the connection between diverse people and my garment pieces.

Stained
April 2021
At the end of the collection it has developed to the process-based works of art. With the limitation from lockdown, I took the remaining materials with me and painted on the canvas.
The motivation was inspired by an accident of the stained papers resulted from leaking water in my bag. I wanted to create stained clothes by painting on the fabric, and let the colors drop and splash on the clothes I was wearing.
